* 6th Annual Games For Health Conference (Boston May 27th, 2010):: Invited Presentation
admin | Wednesday, April 14th, 2010 | 1 Comment »Dr. Zeman will give an invited presentation at the Games For Health Conference held in Boston taking place May 26th to May 27th, 2010. His 40 minute talk is titled:
EEG and Eye-tracking to identify brain function and strategy of game playing: improving game design and showing changes in brain function
Session Summary:
In this talk, Zeman will describe how EEG and eye-tracking methods can be used to identify how we use our brains to play video games and how this information can be used to design better video games. He will describe how a new approach to brain activity analysis, that shows how multiple parts of our brain interact over time, can help us:
- show specific differential brain function is elicited by different gaming conditions,
- show what aspects of brain function (specific brain areas and the coordination among them) are being changed by the gaming experience,
- show how different people use their brains in similar ways to solve a game (identifying the most common gaming strategy),
- show how individual people can use their brains in multiple ways to solve a game (identifying different ‘brain strategies’ for game playing),
- show how people with an injury might be using their brain in an unusual way (an unusual strategy) to compensate for the brain injury.
Before and after the talk, Zeman will be available to answer questions. Conference details are available on the gamesforhealth.org website. More information about Dr. Zeman’s and his colleagues’ research can be found at
