We believe we can make sense of EEG and other biometric data to the extent that it can be used to better understand cognitive brain function, dysfunction, and compensation for dysfunction.  We believe we can use such an understanding to create better medical rehabilitation methods, media-interaction tools, and human-machine interfaces.

We can achieve this through interdisciplinary collaborations to develop new technology and applications and by employing the latest signal processing and behavioral research methods in public-private partnerships.  Our mantra is “develop-apply-improve”.

As a private organization, we offer our design services and our latest technologies to both public and private organizations to help them achieve their product development and research goals.

More Specifically, What We Aim To Do

Applied Brain and Vision Sciences Inc. (ABV Sciences) develops and applies advanced brain activity analysis technology through research and development partnerships with the objective of improving brain health. ABV Sciences partners with both video game development and pharmaceutical development companies. Both of these types of organizations develop products that can be used to address problems with brain function. For example, pharmaceutical companies create products to treat brain dysfunction through  molecular processes, while developers of serious video games offer behavioural therapies to rehabilitate our brains though neuroplasticity.  ABV Sciences provides these organizations with expert consultation and data analysis services.

Our Market Advantage

ABV Sciences’ short-term market advantage lay primarily with our proprietary technology. We employ new electroencephalographic methods for examining system-level activity of a person’s brain while they are involved in a mental (cognitive) task.  Our technology allows us to see the activation of multiple areas of the brain related to the task and how these areas are coordinated with each other as a dynamic system. Our technology allows us to analyze the brain activity related to novel tasks that have not been used before, giving us the freedom to examine brain activity in a variety of contexts.

Because brain activity analysis technology is rapidly evolving, ABV Sciences does more than just provide data analysis services and develop brain function analysis technology.  ABV Sciences partners with clients in their research projects.  It is our belief that this style of relationship facilitates movement of both organizations toward a common goal–to remain successful and expert in their field.   As an organization, ABV Sciences remains ‘expert’ because client partnerships allow us to continually learn about our client’s challenges and simultaneously evolve our technologies, methodologies, while we grow our understanding of brain function.  Concurrently, our clients receive the latest generation of data analysis technology and have access to the most recent expert knowledge of brain function and behavioral research.
